Qianli Tian (b. 1995, Harbin, China) is an international filmmaker, actor, and graphic designer whose work spans diverse creative disciplines. His passion for cinema began in his youth, leading him to explore acting during high school. In 2013, Qianli commenced formal training at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, where he specialized in Stanislavski’s acting method. He later continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, earning a Bachelor’s in Acting Studies and performing notable roles such as Romeo in Romeo & Juliet at the Milton Court Theatre.
Qianli's filmmaking journey began in 2020 with Flipped, his first short film as director and writer. Inspired by filmmakers like Christopher Nolan and James Wan, his storytelling blends technical precision and emotional depth. During his MFA studies at Syracuse University, which he completed in 2024, he directed and edited acclaimed short films, including Jerry, Grey House, and Best of Luck. He also expanded his portfolio by producing projects such as Asking and Bitter Sweet and contributing as a gaffer, sound mixer, and camera operator on various films.
With extensive experience in film and studio production, Qianli has mastered tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Maya 3D, as well as advanced camera systems and lighting setups. His technical expertise is complemented by a strong creative vision, honed through collaborations across disciplines, from narrative films to music videos.
As an actor, Qianli's credits include performances in Uncle Vanya, A Journey, and What Is Normal?. His stage and screen experience enrich his ability to craft nuanced, engaging cinematic stories.
Qianli is currently based in Syracuse, NY, where he works as an Associate Producer at Syracuse University, creating high-quality video content for academic and institutional projects. He continues to innovate as a filmmaker, blending his multifaceted skills to push the boundaries of storytelling.
